Excellent Book for Precalculus

I used this book for several students I tutored in both Honors and Regular Precalculus. The book has plenty of clear examples in each section with practice problems. The illustrations are useful in helping understand difficult concepts such as Polar Coordinates, Conic Sections, Polar Coordinates of Conic Sections, Vectors, Trigonometry. The only weakness may be it's coverage of probability, but the Algebra 2 Glencoe book covers it very well. The examples and challenge problems in each section are great for the Honors level students needing more challenge.

great book

I'll be honest, I am a slow learner... This book is great, it's has great explanations. I started studying this the summer before the actual class and totally understood the concepts before it was taught to me (thats not an easy thing for me to do). I have an "A" in class thus far and a lot of it is due to the book itself explaining everything in great detail and easy to understand English!!

Excellent (rarely have I thought that about reference books). Well written (very readable) making it very accessible for the reader. The material is well structured into chapters that can be tackled one at a time ensuring the book is not a daunting read (you don't need a long stretch in solitary to get through it!). Overall a very good introduction, as a non-medically trained epidemiologist this book is what I have been looking for a while. It provides just the right amount of detail and background to laboratory testing for infectious diseases that I need to engage with my diagnostic colleagues. A book I would certainly recommend.

if your lab class doesn't assign an actual book this is great!

In my lab class they only had a lab book that was made by the dept. It was designed to be confusing and tricky. I'm training to be a CLS, this got me through the med back lab. Our professor would never tell us the "tricks" in med bact, for example when a bacteria was called a rod but when you looked in the scope it actually looked cocci. This was great for that. It also gives you a little box summary of all the tests important for each microbe. This was very helpful for the Enterbacteriaceae family. It has a great chart for X and V factors for Haemophilus spp. It is also great for telling you what tests separate what genera, like Neisseria, Moraxella, and Acinetobacter.
