CISSP, CCSM, CCSI, CCSE, CCNA Security

Mr. Hall has been performing computer security work for over 17 years and has been providing security consulting services for organizations along the Colorado Front Range full-time since 1999. He has worked with Check Point firewall products since 1997. Mr. Hall holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Colorado State University and has been teaching Check Point firewall classes continuously since 2003. As one of the top ten active participants on the Check Point User Group website forum (CPUG.org) with over 1,200 posts, Mr. Hall frequently lends his expertise to solving problems posted by Check Point users all over the world under the alias "ShadowPeak.com".

If you run a Check Point firewall that's been installed in the last five years; BUY THIS BOOK!!!

Tim's tome is a much-needed, well-overdue, technical reference guide that has been long-missing for us Check Point engineering grouchy-types who've been drinking the pink Kool-Aid for some time. I got a gander at it while at CPX15 in DC this year (and was fairly focused flipping through the pages whilst at a piano bar late in to the evening) and knew this would be an excellent guide for my engineers and analysts alike. I've purchased for my team 9 total copies... I'd like to think to treat them like fraternity pledges; they must walk around with the Tim's book wedged in between the back of their pants and shirt or else they get the paddle.

I've personally took the time to read through it twice, making notes each time, and have recommended (and basically sold) it to Diamond Engineers already who had the privilege to shuffle through my well-worn copy. Tim has done an excellent job with this; I only hope that every year or two he creates an updated copy/revision to help spread the knowledge and raise the level of quality AND quantity of Check Point engineers out in the world.

This book is a must have if you are a network administrator and/or firewall administrator. This book has almost everything you need for firewall management. I constantly use this book as a reference to always go back and check certain commands to view certain outputs on the firewalls.

She is a published poet, and her wordplay is wry and intense, both diatribes against “religious claptrap” and also at her “m/other,” who orders her daughter not to read so much or men won’t want her. Fawzia Afzal-Khan is University Distinguished Scholar, Professor of English, and Director of Women and Gender Studies at Montclair State University, NJ. She is author and editor of four previous books, including the bestselling anthology Shattering the Stereotypes: Muslim Women Speak Out. She has written extensively on Pakistani culture and politics, and is a published playwright and poet. She is also a trained vocalist in the North Indo-Pak classical tradition.

Great Disappointment

I found the writing of this book appalling. The author treats us to a display of American slang and swearing, mixed in with tragic stories of Pakistani women, imitations of stream-of-consciousness prose, accounts of Pakistani politics and religious wars, her own poetry, along with bits and pieces of her sexual experiences. I found it a terrible hodgepodge written in a mix of styles. I will find it hard to finish reading the whole book.

Massive Disappointment

Being Pakistani, female and from Lahore, I had been looking forward to reading this book. Being a fan of the likes of Nadeem Aslam, Daniyal Mueenuddin, Kamila Shamsie, Mohsin Hamid, Mohd. Hanif, Amitav Ghosh, etc., I was somehow expecting this book to be just as well written, insightful and thought provoking. Alas! It was not to be. Even though the author is clearly a brilliant lady with lots of profound thoughts, I think she tried to achieve too many different objectives with this one book and in the process, achieved none. The characters were paper-thin with no insights on what made them tick so one could feel no sympathy for them, the socio-economic and political commentary was too sweeping and judgmental without enough facts to make it credible, there wasn't any introspection (how can one write a memoir without it?), and the covered time periods too fragmented to make any sense of. And finally, I found the entire description of someone threatening to sue if the book were ever published and the ensuing chain of events both distasteful and distracting.

Inaccurate, political, and distasteful

This is not a memoir, as the title might lead you to believe. It's a diatribe against Khan's pet peeves. The author's rage gets the better of her numerous times. The book is also inaccurate in places: women are not stoned to death in Pakistan. I don't know why some writers think that using foul language is a mark of good writing. I found the book very distasteful.

Phillip Kotler is an internationally recognized name in marketing, and this introductory text (undergraduate or MBA-level) is a comprehensive resource on the subject. It provides a framework for analyzing marketing opportunities and making strategic decisions with respect to the marketing mix to maximize customer value. This latest edition was written with the Internet in mind and how it has changed marketing strategy. The only problem with the book may be its comprehensiveness because it tries to cover every conceivable topic. That makes it a handy reference, but you may need to consult other resources on both marketing and strategy to get a deeper understanding.

Rip off, no new material since edition 2

Kotler tries to sell college students new books every year, hence the 12th edition he is now marketing. There is no new information, and the information contained is no different from any $12 marketing book. Students, buy an old edition and save, teachers stop using books like this, more and better information is available for free over the net anyway. Just because they are expensive and shiny doesn't mean they are worthwhile. BTW this is also available in an international edition with the exact same content for 1/4 of the cost.

The information presented in the book is one of the best that I found on this subject. Especially for the global approach that the author provides and the range of uses in which Radionics can be used. From my point of view Radionics would be a way to enhance dramatically our human capacities. I have incredible experiences with the use of radionics, but this book has opened my mind to give me new ideas. For example, the use for business, relationships, health, achieving goals, sports, children, animals, plants, etc. For me, the best thing is that Radionics acts at distance. You can influence on others, to help them in many ways. Very good and recommended.
