A solid story with great characters and several HEAs
By Van
Wrestling with Love is a great story. Eric and Quin make a good couple and we get to know them over their college years. I had read the earlier Handymen story about Jake and Cory and it was nice to see them again. There were a few editing issues with the story - wrong, but similar sounding, word and a few things like that. It didn't detract from the story.
I wasn't sure how Eric and Quin would work out when there was a major event about 1/3 of the way in but things turned out fine. There was enough back story and character development, and the story was spread over enough time, that some otherwise unlikely parts, were believable.
Some of the secondary characters were also memorable: Dylan, Quin's father and sister, Zack, Eric's Anaa, to name a few.
I will be watching for more by Dan Sexton.

Wrestling with Love was much more than an m/m romance story to ...
By Jan
Wrestling with Love was much more than an m/m romance story to me. The fact that one of the characters, Eric, was of middle eastern heritage and a traditional family added a different dimension to the usual story lines. The two young men battle themselves, the homophobia of the era, as well as the traditional view of the middle eastern family. A couple of things bugged me. It was almost too pat for Quintin's father to have been a closet gay for a long while and, tho I appreciated that the author stayed away from all "Oh, my god, my son can't be gay!" angst of many novels, it just seemed a bit too easy on his side of the parental acceptance scale. Eric's Pakistani father was a whole different point of view. Yes, he threw his son out of the house and disowned him, but how that whole attitude turns around made his part of the story really believable. Now that I've I told you what I didn't like, let me tell you, that having been to a few frat parties in college and having spent a little time on a sports team, I had no problem accepting and believing the locker room antics, dorm encounters and such. So I guess, the big thing for me with this story was it was 95% totally believable and I really cared about the characters. I usually stay away from m/m romance when the characters are so young, but this one was simply terrific.

Enemies to Lovers FTW!
By NNS07M8
This was my first read by Dan Sexton, and it certainly won't be my last. I have book one, The Handyman Can on my Kindle, and I can't wait to dive in.
Wrestling with Love was a great story. We start off with Aalam aka Eric and Quintin, who are on the same wrestling team for FSU. These guys absolutely hate each others guts. It's like in grade school when you get repeatedly teased by the same boy or girl; it's usually because he/she likes you. Same deal here. Eric and Quintin can't stand each other for the simple fact that they're both sexually attracted to each other and it scares them both. They both consider themselves to be straight, but you can't deny a connection. The way both boys end up coming to terms with how they feel is hilarious. Can I just say that I loved the perviness of Dylan? LOL, what a fun secondary character.
The highlight of this book for me was the raunch incorporated with the love story. I enjoyed the fact that Mr. Sexton made mention of Eric's ethnicity and cultural background. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. There were minor editing errors with misspellings but nothing horrible. This was a 4.5 for me, but I rounded up to 5. Good story, fun characters, a writing style that flowed well. A winner for sure, good job Mr. Sexton!
