The Best on the Topic
By Azadi and Melissa
Fantastic book. Unlike many on the topic which go over the very beginnings of the language found on any online tutorial or introductory book, this book hits the ground running. Yes, it goes over loops and keywords, but only to the extent to tell you they exist, and assumes that you know the basics of programming.
Some of the topics covered include:
Creating a DLL
Modifying Windows Registry with code
Command Line Compilation
Windows 8 App Development
and the list goes on. Not all the way through the book yet, but am thoroughly pleased, as I have read numerous books on the topic and they are either:
A) Too advanced for an undergraduate student of Computer Science
B) Too focused on a NOOB perspective.
This book delivers and there are plenty of Try it Out's if you are the type who likes this. I thrive on this personally.

Perfect book for learning and mastering C#
By Neeraj Agrawal
This is a must have reference book for all .NET programmers.
I was looking for a book that was not just for the beginners but for the intermediate to advanced users too. This book hits the nail on the head for me.
The book is divided into 6 parts and each part progressively guides the reader from basics into the meat of the language. Part 1 is like a refresher course and helps cementing the basics of the language. It covers classes, inheritance, arrays, generics, string, collections, LINQ, Error handling, delegates etc. Part 2 quickly goes over VS 2012 which has some slick new features and supports development of Win 8 style (metro) programs. It also goes through the deployment processes. Part 3 dives into the core foundation of the language touching some advanced topics like threads, security, transactions, windows runtime, localization, XAML etc. I think this part is the most important and provides an interesting read.
Part 4 is all about data and XML. It covers topics related to database programming using ADO.NET. XML has become the most common way of sharing data across organizations. The book explains all about XML programming using C#. Part 5 is all about presentation. It takes the reader through developing GUIs for windows 8 app stores, the regular WPF apps as well as web programming. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this part as it puts all you have learned so far in the book to use.
The final part, i.e. 6, is about communication using WCF.
The contents of the book are rock solid. There are neat examples spread all over the book to help the reader grasp the concepts. With the launch of Win 8, I was also looking for a book that covers the development of the metro apps. This book helped me there too.
This is a huge book with 1500+ pages. It'll take me months to go through all of it. But the content of the book has assured me that I need not look for any other book. This is a one-stop book for any .NET developer.
I recommend the book with a 5 star rating.

Awesome book.
By Arthur V. S.
This was my second choice, which end up being the only choice. I originally purchased Pro C# 5.0 and the .NET 4.5 Framework (Professional Apress), but it was so terrible that I returned it (you can read my review for that book on its respective page.) This one on the other hand is excellent.
It almost reads like a novel, is very dense with useful information.
I definitely recommend it.
